About shape the vote

Shape the Vote is a campaign developed by the BC Federation of Students, a group of over 170,000 students across British Columbia. Our goal is to increase young voter participation in the federal election and to demonstrate our collective power.

Together our voices will be heard, our votes will make a difference, and we will vote for the future we want.

In the last federal election, 1 in 5 registered voters were under 35. We cannot be ignored; if any political party wants to be elected, they need to talk to young people in Canada about the issues that we care about.

What do we do?

The Federation advocates for affordable, accessible, high-quality, and publicly-funded post-secondary education in BC and Canada, using research, lobbying, and mobilization to drive change.

Lobbying

The Federation regularly meets with government officials and serves on advisory committees to represent students. During lobby week, student reps present concerns directly to decision-makers, often leading to positive changes.

membership mobilization

Regular government meetings and top-notch research need public support to drive change. The Federation mobilizes students and communities through petitions, rallies, and social media to educate the public and pressure decision-makers. Building broad public support is key to making positive change.

Research

Thorough research forms the foundation of our proposals. The Federation analyzes policies, conducts polls, and develops student-focused alternatives to influence government and public opinion.
